A set of coherent roles that are often adopted by the different members of a group in order to solve problems, make decisions, and meet targets. Some commonly identified roles of this kind include the initiator, who defines goals, recognizes problems, and initiates procedures; the opinion giver, who provides ideas and information; the opinion seeker, who elicits the ideas or expertise of others; and the summarizer, who clarifies and sums up the ideas of the group.
